Keeping children safe on the Internet is a hard task. No one said it would be easy. But, as parents, it is your job to make sure you provide your child with the utmost in online privacy and online safety. The more online privacy tips you teach you children, the less you have to stress about it. Teach them common sense when it comes to searching and talking online. You want them to be self-sufficient and able to make the right decisions when it comes to surfing online. And most of these online privacy tips pertain to adults as well, so you can learn a few things every time you teach them something.

Rules For Online Privacy

Here are some rules for online safety:

Do not give out your phone number online or any other personal information, such as address, parents' work address or school you attend.
Tell your parents right away if something makes you feel uncomfortable. Do not hesitate.
NEVER meet a stranger in person that you have met online. This rule (kinda) goes for adults as well. If you (adults) decide to meet someone in person, always make it a public place or with a buddy or two.
Do not send a picture of yourself to anyone online. Adults, a similar rule applies. Always request more than one picture. Anyone can have a picture of someone else...or even a fake. Be careful.

This is just the beginning of your online privacy protection program. There are so many little rules when it comes to online privacy that we can't go through all of them. The most important rule when it comes to safety and Internet privacy is common sense. The more you practice common sense online privacy, the less likely you are to be a target. Protect your child like you would protect yourself. Be safe.
