Pool Safety Tip
A pool is a large investment and an ongoing expense. To maximize your family's enjoyment of your pool, it's a good idea to keep the pool area as safe as possible and enforce a few basic rules. On this page, you're likely to find a pool safety tip you might not have thought of before.
You May Not Have Thought of These
There are obvious pool safety tips that most people know, like:
- No running in the pool area
- Keep lifesaving devices nearby
- No glass in the pool area
- Wear sunblock
- No rough play in the pool or pool area
- Put up a pool fence and keep it locked when adults won't be in the pool area
But here are a few that you may not have thought of:
Unknown pool safety tip #1: Make sure children learn how to swim at a young age. This is a good idea whether you have a pool or not.
Unknown pool safety tip #2: Make sure the whole pool can be seen from a common area in your house (like a kitchen, living room or family room) and make sure there's a door from that area to the pool area.
Unknown pool safety tip #3: Make sure pool chemicals are properly mixed in the pool. Too much can cause burns, blindness or in rare cases, death.
Unknown pool safety tip #4: Keep pool chemicals locked up when not in use and away from children at all times.
Unknown pool safety tip #5: Don't use inflatable pool toys as pool safety products to save lives.
Unknown pool safety tip #6: One of the best things you can do to keep your pool area safe is to install a pool fence and a pool alarm. (You can learn more about pool fences and pool alarms on other pages on our site.)
Enjoy your pool, but keep the rules of pool safety in the forefront of your mind to avoid accidents. Pool safety is not something you should ignore. Hopefully you can use a pool safety tip from the list above to make your pool area safe.
