	<description>
Important pool safety advice and wisdom
When it comes to children and pools, pool safety is not an option, it is a must. Here are some tips for children around the home. On this page, we'll give you some pool safety tips. Dozens of people in the United States drown every year, most of them kids.

When it comes to pool safety, there is no substitute for supervision. One of the most common techniques is the buddy system, but even that is not enough. Sending two children to the pool together is not supervision enough.

Below are some really good safety tips.

1) Children are drawn to pools, spas and jacuzzis and that's why pool safety products and measures are an important part of your backyard safety armor. Kids want to get close and touch the water and play in the water, but, they don't have enough intelligence to know that they can't swim. You have to be around them at all times, especially around water. Look into pool fences and alarms as extra safety measures.

2) Always have some sort of barrier surrounding the pool. This is rule #1 when it comes to pool safety. Whether it be pool gates or covers -- or both. If you're child can't get to the pool, the less likely they are to drown. If there isn't a pool gate, always have some kind of covering on the pool or spa or jacuzzi. This way, if they get to it, they can't get in it.

3) If you're child is around the pool -- even if supervised -- always have them wear a life vest. A child can drown in seconds. Keep up on the newest child safety tips for a great pool experience.

4) Have rescue equipment close by in the event your child does fall into the pool; ring buoys and reaching poles are essential, and of course, a first aid kit. These are just the basics of of your "pool safety tip" arsenal.

Don't be afraid to do your own research on the pool or home safety products that will make life easier and safer.

When it comes to pool safety, risk nothing. Keep your child safe.
